About Lydia

I’m Lydia and welcome to lydiaelisemillen.com – my (new and improved!) corner of the internet which has been my home for the past ten years of my life. What started as an online diary has evolved into space for my community to easily access my take on inspirational, educational, and commercial content that I put out into the world via my channels on Instagram, Pinterest, and Youtube. Everything you might want to know more about in one convenient spot. I’ll be also writing about some of the subjects I’m passionate about which is incredibly therapeutic for me. You’ll be immersed deep into the depths of my beautiful Lydia Millen world (brace yourself!). I’m so thrilled and thankful that you have chosen to spend some time with me here.

My heart really goes into everything that I put on this website, and I would love to get feedback and advice on what you might be looking for in terms of content. I want to create a space for you to expand your mindset, and hopefully find some tools that will help you develop anything you’ve been needing advice on- whether it be in fashion, beauty, lifestyle tips, wellness and more (or at least entertain you while you’re sipping that latte in the morning).

From all of us at the Millen-Gordon household, including our new puppy addition Porter, Bengal cat Lumi, and my husband Ali, we look forward to virtually welcoming you into our lives.

I always love hearing from you, so get in touch and myself, or one of the LEM team will get back to you as soon as we can.

xx Lydia

Frequently Asked Questions

How did you start blogging and do you have any tips?

I started blogging 10 years ago from my university residence. I’d found myself in a bit of a funk when it came to my style and needed to feel inspired again, I’d been coding (albeit badly) my own websites since I was 13 and using them to document my life as though it was an online diary so I feel like blogging came naturally to me at this stage. I documented my charity shop finds whilst living on a student budget and the ‘up-cycling’ of old pieces in my wardrobe. From there I got a job as an E-commerce manager at a mens leisure brand after graduating from The University of Northampton but continued my blog as a side hustle and I like to put the emphasis on hustle because I really did. Whilst others in my vertical lived at home and transitioned into full time blogging far easier, I had a mortgage and responsibilities to consider so I had to make sure I had every base covered before I made the jump from part time blogger to full time digital talent and from there, I have never ever looked back. Its both an industry I’m passionate about and proud to have been a part of in the beginning before the glamour of the industry that it is today took hold.

What are your stats? (age, height, weight etc)

People are always surprised when they meet me that i’m not taller!! I’m 5’7″ and I can honestly say I have no idea what I weigh. I like to feel healthy and confident in my clothes, so I eat well and exercise to achieve this without worrying about the numbers.

I am 33 years young, but if anyone else asks, let’s just say 21…. again!

Who takes your pictures and what equipment do you use?

The majority of my content is captured either by myself behind the lens, a tripod if I’m in front of the lens or my by my long suffering husband, Ali. However I do occasionally like to work a long side photographers as I thrive off of the creative energy they bring to shoots. Equipment wise I will always be a Canon girl through and through, after my first big campaign many years ago I spent the entire pay check on a Canon 5D mk iii which I still have to this day. Its so clunky and old skool now considering the way photography has evolved, it doesn’t even pair with my phone but it was a real career milestone investing in my business in that way I couldn’t ever part with it. My favourite lens for it is the 50mm 1.4 lens which is an icon from the early years of blogging. For video and vlog footage the Canon G7X mk ii has always been my trusty side kick and although they don’t necessarily last that long (to be fair to them in the day to day Vlog life, they are put to the test) their performance is unrivalled. For an easy on the go content camera where the likes of the 5D can me just a little too big, I reach for my M50 with interchangeable lenses it gives that professional finish to images in a much more compact way.

What is the inspiration behind your style?

I’d say the biggest inspirations behind my style are the seasons. I’m completely enchanted by them and find so much beauty in the natural changes, colours and tones that effortlessly come and go with each seasonal change so much so that it even extends to my home and where I can use as much natural texture and tone to really mirror what’s outside and blur the lines between the two. For my personal style you can expect to see botanicals and florals across light weight linens and sheer organza fabrics for Spring/Summer whilst Autumn/Winter makes way to deep earthy tones which make perfect bases for buildable layers of wool & cashmere.

I would love for you to try my brand/ product! How can I go about doing this?

Firstly, I’m so honoured you would like my opinion on something you’ve decided to launch in to- well done you! I do receive a large number of product review requests and I only have one face/ body to try it on, so please do reach out via the Contact page and someone in the team can ensure that we can discuss your brand and see what is possible.

Where is 'X' from on your Instagram/ YouTube content?

All products will be linked in my YouTube videos if available. For Instagram I try to take as many of the brands i’m wearing or featuring as possible! Alternatively, have a look at my Shop page for anything I have showcased recently.
