I know this is probably better suited to @millengordonhome but this is just too pretty not to share. Our newly installed wrought iron and oak arch which has made even more of a feature of the beautiful old wall. I always call this door ‘The Secret Garden Door’ but in truth, in case you didn’t know, our house previously belonged to the gardener of the stately home next door before it was rebuilt a few years ago and this gave them access to the kitchen gardens, orchard and potting shed which would have once upon a time, provided for the residents.
We used to have a climbing rose here which completely blocked this view entirely but now it’s such a beautiful vista complete with our trusty Defender and my final loot of Tomato’s from the kitchen garden.

Ego death. A term I hadn’t heard until this week which again rocked my world for the better. It’s when everything you think defines you as a person disappears and you are left only with who you actually are. It can be uncomfortable at first, getting to know the raw unedited version of yourself, you may like what you see, you may not. But either way, this is the true definition of self discovery. I was one of the lucky ones, I truly and deeply loved the person I didn’t realise I was, someone who loved nature and being outdoors, history, historical literature and TV shows, someone who loves gardening, cooking and making a house a home, antiques sourcing and farm shop snooping, a life dictated by the seasons rather than trends and a truly wonderful life at that. In turn I became so comfortable in who I am and what I loved and cared for, that no matter who chooses to point and laugh at how drastically I leaned into the things I loved and the changes I made or my first failed sprootlings or my leg position when out hacking in nature.
I thought the death of my ego would end me, but in reality, it was the beginning of the most spectacular and sparkling existence I’ve ever known.
